Is it secure?

Yes.  TeleCBT is in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). TeleCBT Counselors are experienced healthcare professionals registered/licensed with their provincial regulatory body and adhere to their privacy requirements.  For more information about our platform privacy policy, click here.


What conditions can TeleCBT help with?

TeleCBT can be used to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, social anxiety, OCD, panic attacks along with a variety of other mental health conditions.  Please contact us to see if TeleCBT is a good fit for you.


How much does it cost?

One hour video or talk counseling $110.00

Half an hour of text counseling $40.00


How do I pay?

TeleCBT accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.


Will my insurance cover TeleCBT?

Many insurance companies will cover the costs of TeleCBT.  Please contact your insurance company to verify coverage.  It is not the responsibility of your counselor to verify coverage.



Is online CBT effective as in-person CBT

Yes.  In many cases, online CBT has been proven to be equally effective as face-to-face CBT.  Often, counseling is more effective since it does not require additional travel time, is more accessible for those living in remote areas or for those who have mobility difficulties.


How does TeleCBT work?

Click Get Started.  Simply fill out the form and someone from TeleCBT will contact you to set up your first appointment.  You can request video, phone or text counseling.  You will then receive an email notification of your appointment. We recommend that you download the TeleCBT desktop or smartphone app.  Apps can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play by searching "TeleCBT" and can be used on any iOS or Android device.  You must create an account on a web browser to get started.  To do so, please click Visit your Account in any of the e-mails you have received and follow the prompts on screen.  Up to 10min before your scheduled appointment, you will be prompted to click "Join Call."  


Will I get to choose my counslor?

No.  Once you have completed a brief intake interview a counselor will be assigned to you. You will receive a brief bio and photo of your counselor prior to your first appointment.


Will I get the same therapist?

Yes.  Once you have been assigned a therapist, you will work together to develop a treatment plan.


What if I don't get along with my counselor?

If you have any concerns about your counselor, we recommend that you first bring this up with your counselor.  If you do not feel comfortable speaking to your counselor about your concerns or would like to change counselors, you can contact and we will work with you to find a counselor who may be a better fit.


What equipment is required?

TeleCBT provides video, talk and chat counseling. If you choose video counseling, you will require a computer or mobile device with a webcam.  TeleCBT is available for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. Talk counseling is available on any phone or mobile device.  Text counseling is available on a computer, laptop or mobile device.


My computer skills are limited- will I be able to use this service?

Yes, our administrative staff will be able to walk you through the set up process.  Once you download our app or install the software on your desktop, it is very easy to log back in to meet with your therapist.


How long will therapy last?

You and your counselor will discuss the best treatment time for you.


How do I book a session?

Can someone under 18 years old use TeleCBT?

No.  TeleCBT is for persons 18 years and older.


Can my therapist prescribe medication?

No.   Your counselor will not prescribe medication.  Please discuss any medication requirements with your family physician.

TeleCBT is not appropriate for crisis counseling.  If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital or emergency room.  This service is not appropriate if you are having suicidal thoughts.
